I was reading the Salem Evening News about a local police officer in Danvers, Mass.  was stabbed several times in the arms and neck by an attacker while he was on Duty.  The worrisome fact about knife attacks is they come from nowhere–with little or no warning. You DO NOT need a permit to carry a knife:  In most states, you need a permit just to carry pepper spray but you don’t need one to carry a knife.  So the chances of an attack with a knife is a lot higher than any other weapon.

If someone is waiving a knife in your face, it’s usually just to scare you into giving them what they want.  If the person is serious about the attack you will not know it is coming and the best way to be able to defend against that is to be aware of the defense techniques that go along with a knife attack.

If there is a way out–RUN.  In fact, the worst thing would be to try to engage in conflict.  If you can’t run, or if there isn’t an escape route– learn the correct defense tactics to protect you or your family.
